You know, it is surprisingly difficult to figure out how to say "does not hold water" using online dictionaries when you mean it literally.
Ahem "on ei ole "?? You have to have either "on" (there is) or "ei ole" (there isn't) but never both in the same sentence!
ReplyDeleteOne can say - "laseb vett läbi" - lets water through, instead of leaking.
And also, if using the negative, the verb olema takes the form "ei ole" - ja siis see ei ole hea (and then this/that isn't good).
Tänan väga, Eva. That first one was a genuine typo. I started writing with the same pattern I used for the German version and then remembered "is not" has a different word order in Estonian. Obviously forgot to fix the "on".
